PRECISELY TIMED SUPPLY PROCESSES

Networking, information transparency, technical assistance and decentralised decisions are key cornerstones of a ‘smart factory’. Companies that systematically interlink and largely automate production and logistics are already creating a solid foundation on which smart factories can grow and thrive. And people continue to play an important role. State-of-the-art technologies relieve them from monotonous work and create an atmosphere that contributes to increasing employee satisfaction and motivation.

AIMING HIGH

Across from Basel’s new landmark, the Roche Building 1, Stöcklin has enhanced the present logistics center in the pharmaceutical company’s facility to include a high bay warehouse divided into two different climate zones and all connected by automatic conveying equipment. This vertical expansion project was implemented so that the normal operations could continue and was also done to include auditing for compliance with Roche strict requirements for the logistics software with regards to the control of the material flow systems according to the rules laid down in their “Good Distribution Practice” (GDP).

THREE NEW SMART TEAM PLAYERS

The Früh Verpackungstechnik AG [Früh Packaging Company] in Fehraltorf, Switzerland, has been using three automated guided vehicles (AGV’s) by they conveyor equipment specialist Stöcklin Logistik AG since the end of 2016. The basic version of the EAGLE ANT is a robotic warehouse system that limits the scope of features to what is actually required, without irrelevant frills. This reduction to basics promises a quick return on investment and is also extremely easy to put into service.

STORAGE LIBRARY AS HUB FOR MILLIONS OF BOOKS

Switzerland’s first collectively used hub for automated archiving and handling of library collections has now gone into operation in Swiss Büron. The “Cooperative Swiss Storage Library” has invested nearly 33 million Swiss Francs in such an automated conveying system in order to provide space for approximately 3.1 million volumes. As general contractor for the overall intralogistics – from storage and retrieval-related conveyor equipment right up to storage management and control – Stöcklin Logistik AG contributed significantly to the implementation of this ambitious project.
